The Kentucky Autumn colors have always fascinated me  .  .  .  .

.  .  .  .  These Kentucky Autumn colors are vivid, bold, rich and energetic.  Year after year, the colors blanket the mountainsides and valleys of this massive Appalachian mountain chain.  Year after year we are totally enveloped in their bewitching palette.

In my Kentucky autumn landscape paintings I work to portray these vibrant and vivacious scenes.  Rather than a direct representation of the Kentucky autumn artworks, I delve to reinterpret these color scenes by using a clear, rich and warm color palette.  These are my contemporary autumn paintings.

These 3 are the last of this Pine Tree Breezes series of 6

They can be hung separately or in combination.

The hills, mountains, valleys, dales and basins . . .

. . . of any mountainous countryside are covered with pine trees: Eastern, Sugar, Red, Pitch, Jack, Longleaf, Loblolly to name a few.   Always a deep, intense, penetrating rich dark green in color, they are the mainstay of a colorful highland: always present, always permanent, always enduring.  So using a series of small 12” x 12” canvases, I painted a series of these magnificent trees, juggling them around so they cuddle up to each other or stand alone with one another.  Fun stuff.
